LLCC: Men’s Basketball Drop Monday Match Up

The Logger losing streak goes to three in a row as LLCC falls to the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan’s JV, 66-63.
The Loggers came out of the gate slow and found themselves down 8 only five minutes into the Monday evening contest. Although Lincoln Land was able to ensure they never got down more than that 10, they were never able to take the lead from the Titans during the first half and went into the break trailing 35-29
The second half was a different effort as Lincoln Land came out of the break hot scoring on four straight possessions and taking their first lead of the game since 2-0 just a few minutes into the second half. The Loggers ended up totaling a 14-4 run and briefly held a two-possession lead. The two teams traded the lead back and forth until Illinois Wesleyan grabbed a 43-42 lead and although the Loggers were able to tie the game on two occasions, they never regained the advantage.

The game looked to be getting away from the Loggers and they found themselves down 7 with under 2:00 to play, until Lincoln Land cut it all the way back to 1. After the Titans split two free throws, Lincoln Land had the ball at mid court on the sideline with five seconds to go. However, a tipped ball and then a turnover negated any opportunity to tie the game. One final chance with under a second left was stolen and the Loggers found themselves on the losing side of a 66-63 score.
Four Loggers got to double digits in the losing effort. Moory Woods cashed in a team high 15, Darius Turner added 12 off the bench, while Cameron Kincaid and Axel Laby each ended with 10 points.
Lincoln Land drops to 9-13 overall on the season.
