Sacred Heart-Griffin High School Announces New Softball and Wrestling Coaches

Springfield, Illinois (May 11, 2022) Sacred Heart-Griffin High School announced today the hiring of Ashleigh Roscetti as head softball coach and Dajuan Stewart as wrestling coach.

Roscetti will replace head softball coach Al Yoho, who will retire at the end of this season. Yoho has been part of the SHG’s softball program for over twenty years. “We appreciate Al’s dedication and devotion to our softball program,” said Bob Brenneisen. “His efforts have put SHG on the softball map.  We are thankful for all Al has done during his 20 plus years.” As the head softball coach, Yoho had the opportunity to coach some amazing athletes and was supported by top notch assistant coaches. “I’d like to say thank you to all the girls who played for SHG softball throughout my time as coach and to the ones before them that helped pave the way,” said Yoho. “I cannot thank my two assistant coaches, Nikki Best and Dave Copi enough,” he added.

Ashleigh graduated from SHG in 2009 where she excelled in softball. She was a 4-time All-Conference selection, 3-time All-State selection and received a softball scholarship to Quincy University. At Quincy University she was a 4-year starter and a 2-time All Great Lakes Valley Conference Selection and Academic All- GLVC Selection. She is an instructor at The Hitting Center and Sports & Healthy Community Initiatives Director at the YMCA of Springfield. For the past 3 seasons Ashleigh has been the assistant coach at Pleasant Plains High School.

“We are excited to welcome back Ashleigh Roscetti to SHG and our softball program,” stated Brenneisen. “She gives us great name recognition in the sport of softball as her successes at both the high school and collegiate levels can attest. Her excitement and enthusiasm are contagious and we look forward to Ashleigh growing our softball program. If you are a softball player, you will want to play for Ashleigh Roscetti.” Making her way back to SHG is something Ashleigh is looking forward to. “I am grateful for the opportunity to coach at my alma mater and give back to the school that gave me so much,” she said. “I remember the pride, purpose, and confidence I felt whenever I put on the SHG uniform, and I am beyond excited to be able to be a part of these young ladies’ journey.  My goal is to have fun, play good fundamental softball, and to bring it every day.  Go Cycs!”

Dajuan Stewart will take over as SHG wrestling coach. Stewart has spent several years helping out Springfield Capitals Kids Club and serving as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Springfield High School wrestling program. In addition, Dajuan has coached youth football for over 15 years and was an assistant football coach at Springfield High School. Bob Brenneisen shared, “Dajuan brings a wealth of experience and energy to our wrestling program.  His excitement is contagious and we are confident that this enthusiasm will grow our wrestling program.”
