Both Tri-City and Stanford Olympia were ranked in the top ten in the Illinois Coaches Association Class 2A preseason poll. They faced off in Buffalo on Saturday after their matchup at the PORTA Slam was canceled. The Spartans picked up the 4-3 victory after a two RBI triple games them the lead in the top of the seventh. Danika Frazier finished with two RBIs and struck out ten in seven innings of work. Daleny Chumbley also struck out ten in seven innings.
