Zack Hawkinson (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) The Cyclones are State Champs! Two double doubles at the state tournament is one way to get your name on the list. Hawkinson had 22 points and 13 rebound in the state semifinal game on Friday against St Ignatius. In Saturday’s championship game he scored 27 points (one more than the rest of the team combined) and had 13 rebounds. Highlights of the semifinal HERE and the championship HERE.
KeShon Singleton (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) He made THE shot.
J’veon Bardwell (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) Before the Cyclones headed to Champaign over the week to bring home a state title they had to play East St Louis. In the Super Sectional at the BOS Center on Monday Bardwell was a consistent on both sides of the ball. He finished with 12 points and went 6 for 8 at the line with some key free throws late in the game. He also had two steal in the victory. Highlights HERE.
Jacob Rollins (Auburn Track and Field) Saturday was the Jerseyville Winter Thaw indoor meet. The senior won the shot put event with a throw of 49′ 7.5″.
Troy Olson (Rochester Track and Field) More from the Jerseyville Winter Thaw meet this past weekend. The Rochester senior took first place in long jump with a jump that was more then a foot longer then the second place finisher. His first place jump was 20′ 5.5″.
Cam Ron Mitchell (Jacksonville Track and Field) We’ve seen him run on a football field but Mitchell is also pretty good on the track. He won the 60 meter race at the Jerseyville Winter Thaw meet on Saturday with a time of 7.14 seconds.
Samson Dessalines (Glenwood Track and Field) The Titan is back on the track where we’ve seen him win plenty of times before. This weekend he picked up a first place finish in the 800 meter event at the Jerseyville Winter Thaw meet with a time of 2:01.34.
Colleen Zeibert (Rochester Track and Field) A familiar name to this list the junior won the 400 meter race in Jerseyville this weekend. She finished a full 2 seconds faster then the next finished with winning time of 1:00.49.
Katelyn Lehnen (Glenwood Track and Field) Get use to hear this name for the next few years. The freshman picked up two wins in Jerseyville on Saturday. One in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.74 seconds and another in the 200 meter with a time of 25.78.
