Athens scored first and didn’t look back as the Warriors downed Black Diamond foe Sesser-Valier for a round two win. Multiple milestones were hit as the Warriors’ program reached win number 100 and Ja’Kyan Shanklin broke the single season rushing td record with 24.
Athens took a 27-7 halftime lead with three touchdowns from Shanklin and another from Camren Bigard. Bigard highlighted the second half with a 47 yard score to add to the Athens total. The Warriors would win it 57-28 over the Red Devils. Athens moves to round three where they will travel to Carrollton.
