The U-High girls golf team won the state title last fall and looked strong to start their title defense on Wednesday night in a Central State Eight quad against Glenwood, Sacred Heart-Griffin and Rochester at Panther Creek Country Club.
Sophomore Reagan Kennedy won medalist with a 37 for the Pioneers. U-High’s Ihnera Gerongay shot a 39 and the Pioneers shot a 162, beating SHG by five strokes. The Cyclones were led by sophomore Molly Marriott’s 40, followed by Elena White’s 41. Rochester’s Karlie Schnepp shot a 40, the Rockets finished in fourth with a 182. Glenwood finished third, led by senior Amy Fowler’s 42, along with Presley Allen’s 42.
