The Riverton defense was tested in the second half, but the Hawknadoes held off Pleasant Plains for a 2-1 win to capture the 1A Riverton regional championship game on Saturday.
Seth Tavernor scored a penalty kick eight minutes in and freshman Ty Romines netted what proved to be the game winner for Riverton 12 minutes in. Evan Saebeler scored for Pleasant Plains in the second half.
The Hawknadoes advance to the SHG sectional on Tuesday evening.
