The Trojans didn’t waste their time in taking a lead over Plains as Hallie Mitchell led off and turned on the first pitch she saw for a solo homer.
Maroa would take a 2-0 lead in the third but Plains would answer in the fourth with a McKenna Wise sacrifice fly to cut the Trojans lead in half. Freshman Reese Tirpak would have the biggest boost for Maroa as her two run shot in the bottom of the fourth gave the Trojans a 4-1 lead.
The Trojans would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to hold off the Cardinals for the 6-1 win.
