Lucas Western scored five rushing touchdowns and added a punt return touchdown to reach six total to power the Pleasant Plains offense to a 54-35 victory over Beardstown.
The Cardinals defense delivered turnovers when they needed them most and Brendan Flanigan found Grant Mink for a score in the third quarter before Tristen Tewes scored a rushing touchdown to cap off the Cardinals scoring.
Pleasant Plains as the 12 seed advances to the second round of the 3A playoffs where they host 13 seed Greenville next weekend.
