Anthony Fairlee and Michael Tyler both dunked in the closing minutes of the 3A sectional semifinal on Wednesday night, a fitting way to cap off a night in which the two juniors combined for 37 points to lead Southeast to a 59-45 victory over Mahomet-Seymour.
The Bulldogs cut the Southeast lead to three to start the fourth quarter on a Cory Noe jumper. Noe led the Mahomet-Seymour with 16 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep Southeast from spreading the floor in the fourth and letting Terrion Murdix, Kobe Medley and Stepheon Sims pick apart the defense before dumping it off to Fairlee and Tyler down low.
The win gives Southeast head coach Lawrence Thomas his 200 career victory and moves the Spartans (26-3) into the 3A Eisenhower sectional championship on Friday night where they play Lanphier, who they beat twice in the regular season but split the CS8 conference title with.
