Auburn led Athens by one with 15.1 seconds in regulation and possession of the ball, but Drayton Davis did what Drayton Davis does. The senior stole the Trojans’ inbounds pass and scored to give the Warriors a lead they’d never again relinquish a 50-47 opening round win at the Sangamon County Tournament on Monday. The win was the 100th for Jeff Johnston as the head coach of the Athens.
Davis finished with a game high 25 points and 13 rebounds. Benji Aker led Auburn with 23.
