Herb McMath finally gave Lanphier the inside presence they’ve desperately needed in the half court. The junior forward finished with a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds in a 65-52 semifinal win over Champaign Centennial. Cardell McGee added 16 points in the win. Centennial’s Tamba Kulo finished with a game-high 22 points.
After the game McMath and Lanphier head coach Blake Turner spoke about going back to the championship game and McMath’s presence inside feeding off Lanphier’s guard play.
Lanphier will play at Pekin Friday night at 6:30 in a rematch of last year’s championship game against Normal West.
