Sixteen Seeded Cardinals Survive And Advance To Quarterfinals For First Time In School History

Pleasant Plains didn’t let a 13 point deficit or a higher seed scare them. The sixteen seeded Cardinals beat Newton 29-27 in the second round of the 3A playoffs on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

Ben Reinert threw for three touchdowns and Nik Samson rushed for another and the Cardinals defense stopped a two point conversion try from the Eagles to hold onto the victory late in the fourth quarter.

Pleasant Plains will travel to Carlinville next Saturday for the 3A quarterfinal matchup that will kick off at 2 p.m.
