Mt. Zion looked more comfortable from the start and were able to keep the pressure on SHG and send them home with a two set sweep 25-20, 25-22 in the 3A Effingham sectional championship.
The Braves pulled away late in the first set and jumped on the Cyclones early in the second. SHG did take a 19-15 lead in the second set, but Mt. Zion was able to battle back and beat SHG in two sets.
Mt. Zion will play Belleville Althoff in the 3A Salem super sectional on Friday night.
