Cardinal Coup! Plains Solves Maroa Just In Time To Save Season In Sectional Play


 

Pleasant Plains and Maroa-Forsyth had met twice this season and twice this season, the Trojans had walked off the court the the victor. But the old saying in sports about it being tough to beat a team three times doesn’t exist by accident and on Monday, the Cardinals unearthed the answer to defeating their new-found nemesis.

After dropping the first set 25-23, Pleasant Plains rebounded for a dominant 25-14 second set win. They carried that momentum into the third, never trailing after taking a 10-9 lead. The Cardinals held off a late Maroa charge for a 25-22 win in the decisive set and advanced to Wednesday’s 2A New Berlin sectional final where they’ll face another school rival in Quincy Notre Dame.
