Leonard Bowl VIII: Where Nic Baker Lead Rochester To A Four Touchdown Lead And It Almost Wasn’t Enough

Nic Baker saved his most impressive score for last. Rochester’s senior quarterback escaped a collapsing pocket, fired an off balance 54 yard touchdown pass to Riley Lewis that hit him between the numbers, giving the Rockets a 35-6 lead in Friday’s Leonard Bowl VII. And that score still almost wasn’t enough to lock up the first Leonard Bowl win for Rochester since 2013.

SHG scored three times over the next quarter and a half to close the gap to 35-28 but a 4th and one pass from Sam Sweetland, intended for Spencer Redd was knocked down at the line by Rochester lineman Sean Brewer to secure the victory.

Baker finished with 294 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. He added a rushing score to run his total to five.
