Statewide Stunner: Decatur MacArthur Hands SHG First Regular Season Loss Since 2011

MacArthur proved in Week 1 that they were an improved team this season. But nobody realized that they were this type of improved. The Generals beat SHG 34-32 on Friday night, handing the Cyclones their first regular season loss since 2010 (loss to Rochester in 2013 was overturned by IHSA). The loss snapped a 56 game regular season win streak for SHG.

Amir Brummett was 11-for-22 with 345 passing yards and two touchdowns. He added 217 yards and a score on the ground. Armon Brummett opened the scoring with a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and he later caught one of Amir’s touchdown passes.

The Generals improved to 2-0 with a Saturday night matchup against Springfield High (2-0) slated for Week 3. SHG falls to 1-1 and hosts Normal U-High next Friday.
