Down to their final strike, Herrin hit a solo home run to tie the game up in the bottom of the seventh inning. Rochester started the eighth inning by plating six runs to blow the game open in extras. The Rockets beat the Tigers 10-4 in the 3A Mattoon super sectional, thanks to two home runs from Ali Bortmess and the rest of the Rockets coming through in big moments, including freshman Jill Anderson who pitched a scoreless first inning and then allowed Reagan Miles to do the rest.
Rochester will play East Peoria in the state semifinals on Friday.
