The Lions defeated Mt. Zion, 75-60 to win the 3A Effingham sectional championship on Friday. The Lions move on to the Springfield super sectional, where they will play Centralia on Tuesday at the Prairie Capital Convention Center with a chance to go to state.
Yaakema Rose followed up his 34 points, 10 rebound, five steal night on Tuesday with 26 points, 11 rebounds and six steals on Friday. Carell McGee added 25 points, eight rebounds and five rebounds, while Corrington Jones scored 14 points, including a 3-of-7 mark from downtown.
