If Yaakema Rose isn’t the early favorite for the Pekin Holiday Tournament MVP, it would be worth the money to buy a ticket for whoever is. Rose scored 25 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dropped off three assists and added three steals to his stat line in a 72-53 win over Moline in the Pekin semifinals on Wednesday.
Moline, who’s led by former Jacksonville head coach Sean Taylor, took a 14-12 lead early in the second quarter, but the Lions closed the half on a 22-5 run and the lead was never less than double digits after that.
Lanphier will play the winner East Moline United Township and Normal West in Thursday’s 6:30pm final.
