Saturday’s 3A round two showdown between Williamsville and Carlinville featured two of the best running backs in the state in the Bullets’ Jace Franklin and the Cavies’ Jacob Dixon. In a 42-35 Carlinville win, both showed why they’d earned that distinction.
Franklin became Williamsville’s career rushing leader with 187 yards and four touchdowns on 36 rushes. He passed Brian Lyttaker who set the previous in 1998.
Dixon rushed for four scores as well, racking up 250 yards on 32 touches. He also threw for what proved to be the game winner on a halfback pass in the game’s final minutes.
Williamsville’s season ends with a 9-2 record.
