Newton’s Mitch Bierman ran for over 280 yards and Auburn didn’t have an answer. The undefeated Eagles set Auburn out in the first round of the playoffs with a 61-29 victory in 3A football on Saturday.
In the first quarter, neither defense held up and after a 21 all game..the Eagles were able to build a 36-21 halftime advantage. Auburn would be kept off the board until the running clock went into effect in the fourth quarter.
Newton moves on to play Pana in round two, while Auburn ends their season at 5-5.
