Riverton’s turnaround on the volleyball court in 2016 has been impressive. In addition to winning the Sangamon County title, the Hawks can now add a 2A Meridian regional championship to their list of accomplishments. Riverton outlasted host Meridian for a three set victory on Thursday night, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17. The Hawks nearly didn’t even get to this point. On Tuesday in the regional semifinal game, Riverton had to come back from a 24-15 third set deficit against Auburn to advance to the title game. With that win, this group has been coined “the comeback kids.”
