Nate Cheung scored just 4:15 into the first half which would be Springfield’s only goal until Luke Owsley found the back of the net late in the second half to give the Senators a 2-0 win over Rochester. The Rockets’ defense was stingy, limiting the Senators opportunities on the offensive end of the field.
Springfield was without one of its best players in Logan Willard, who is suspended due to a violation of team rules. Springfield will have to get back to a super sectional for him to see the field again this season.
The Senators will play the winner of Mattoon and Mahomet Seymour in Urbana on Tuesday.
