Maroa wasn’t the bigger team on the field on Friday but they insisted they were the more physical group and they backed it up with a 24-7 Week 8 win over Auburn. Maroa built a 17-0 lead through three quarters before conceding their first score of the game early in the fourth. Auburn had a chance to cut the lead to 17-14 later in the fourth but quarterback Ben Johnson was intercepted by Maroa’s Logan Allsup and that possession turned into a Jaxson Nelson touchdown to seal the victory.
Maroa (7-1) will host North Mac (8-0) next week as the Panthers look to lock up their second consecutive outright Sangamo title.
