Leonard Bowl VII not only lived up to the hype but it exceeded it on Friday night. SHG outlasted Rochester 33-28, moving to 7-0 on the year. The highly anticipated matchup between two of the preeminent teams in Illinois came down to the very last play.
A Nic Baker hail mary was batted down by Nolan Reavy as the buzzer sounded to give Ken Leonard the win over his son, Derek.
Tremayne Lee rushed for three SHG touchdowns, including a 91-yard score in the first quarter. Tristan Blair added a touchdown for that potent Cyclones ground game. Colin Boyd drilled two field goals of 35 and 45 yards.
For Rochester, Nic Baker and Collin Stallworth linked up for two touchdowns. Avante Cox also recorded two scores. One from Baker and the other from Josh Grant.
