Listen to the guys discuss here:

1.  SHG – We put them at the top for a reason. The defense gave up one touchdown in Week 1 and you can thank James White’s OBJ catch that set that up. The running backs are as good as advertised and the defense certainly impressed us in Week 1.

2. Rochester – What’s better than having a really good quarterback? How about two of them, to go with three division one wide receivers. Glenwood is a great test to see where this team is at in Week 2.

3. Eisenhower – It’s hard to know how good Ike really is after week one considering they didn’t actually get a full game in and it was against their town rivals. The potential is certainly there with four or five solid wide receivers and a good mixture of size and speed in the backfield.

4. Glenwood – Nobody knew what to expect, including Southeast. The offense looks to be in midseason form already with plenty of options, including Zak Wardlow who almost put up 300 yards. The defense still needs some work and a great opportunity presents itself with Rochester this week.

5. Jacksonville – Hard to start your season on the road with the number one ranked team in 6A. The only thing we could really take away from their performance in Week 1 was that James White is the still real deal and now we’ll see how they respond against Springfield.

6. Southeast – Offensively the Spartans put up plenty of points, led by Gavin Webb, just as we expected. The defense can get a partial pass because nobody knew what to expect from Glenwood. A Saturday battle against another City school will show us if the Spartans can respond.

7. Springfield – Hard to tell what the Senators really are after beating Lincoln. One thing we do know, Week 1 allowed the Springfield High offense another week to get used to the Roy Gully system. A true test against Jacksonville this week will show whether the Solons will move up the rankings or not.

8. MacArthur – The Brummett brothers are among the best athletes in the Central State Eight. Their big play capability makes the Generals a fun to watch, despite their early season discipline issues that were on display week one.

9. Lanphier – Much like Jacksonville, it’s hard to tell what we’ll see from the Lions because of their Week 1 loss at Rochester. Lanphier did show some explosiveness on special teams. Before we move them either way, let’s see how they fare on Saturday at Southeast.

10. Lincoln – Week 1 is over, the rebuild continues for Matt Silkowski. At least now he knows what he’s working with.
