Springfield High had a 3-1 lead heading into the final twenty minutes of play in the 2A Troy sectional semifinal, but the Triad Knights fought back to force overtime and won it on a free kick from just outside the box.
Katie Collins scored two first half goals and Maria Jorquera added a third to put Springfield up 3-1 but Sam Bassler scored twice for the Knights and Meaghan Smith won it with two minutes to play in the first overtime on a free kick that gave the Knights the lead that held through the second overtime.
Triad will play Rochester on Friday at 6 p.m. at Triad High School for the sectional championship.
