Springfield High's Damian Pierce had endured a tough two days at the dish against Rochester. The Senator slugger was hitless against the Rockets as he walked to the plate in the bottom of the 9th of a 1-1 tie, and then suddenly, that was no longer the story line.
Pierce delivered a walk off solo blast on a first pitch fastball and in the process he completed Springfield's quest for their first CS8 baseball crown since 2000. The Senators were guaranteed at least a share with SHG, but the win made it Springfield's alone.
