Sacred Heart Griffin could only muster 3 hits in their much anticipated City Tournament matchup vs CS8 unbeaten Springfield, but the Cyclones turned those 3 hits (and some Senator errors) into 4 runs and Austin Chapman would make the 4 runs hold up as SHG defeats Springfield 4-3, handing the Senators their first loss in the CS8 this season. Springfield had numerous opportunities to tie or take the lead in the last three innings but Chapman and the Cyclones came up with timely pitches and defense to counter every Senator push. The Senators outhit SHG 11-3 but left 11 runners on base in the loss. The two teams will battle again tomorrow at Lanphier Park.
