It's late April and the Sangamo season is in the stretch drive which means it's time to cue Riverton to make their presence felt. The Hawks did exactly that on Thursday, leaning on Zak Merchant who pitched a complete game shutout in a 1-0 win over the Trojans. The game was a home game for the Trojans, though it was played in Riverton due to field conditions in Auburn.

Merchant gave up just four hits and walked a pair while striking out four in the win. A pair of freshmen combined for the only run of the game. Griffin King scored on a Colton Charles single in the top of the second inning.

The Auburn loss means that Williamsville and Pleasant Plains are now the only Sangamo teams without a conference loss.
