Peoria Notre Dame never really got a decent shot on goal Saturday against SHG and the Cyclones scored once in each half to beat the Irish 2-0 to open the 2016 Cyclone Invite.
Theresa Shaff scored on a free kick four minutes before halftime on a shot that deflected off the Irish wall and then Ashleigh Cearlock played a perfect ball to Mackenzie Camden who timed her run and scored nine minutes into the second half.
The Cyclone Invite continues on Thursday with Rochester vs. Alton Marquette at 5 p.m., followed by SHG vs. QND.
