Kyle Weber Tabbed to Replace Cliff Cameron At Pleasant Plains

Pleasant Plains is expected to hire Kyle Weber as the next head coach for the boys basketball program. The school’s board of education will act on the matter at their next meeting which is scheduled for April 4.

Weber spent the last eight seasons as the head coach at Riverton High School where he posted a record of 134 wins and 80 losses, including a sectional title in 2013. The Hawks upset Pleasant Plains that year in the sectional semifinals. He’s a Teutopolis High School graduate where he played from 1994-1997 before attending Eastern Illinois University.

Weber will replace Cliff Cameron who spent 18 seasons coaching the Cardinals and compiled a record of 406-143 at Pleasant Plains, including a run to the supersectional to end the 2016 season.

Weber’s Riverton Hawks went 16-10 in the 2015-2016 season, falling to Auburn in the regional semifinal.

Pleasant Plains returns three of their five starters next season. Isaac Collins, Cole Greer and Nik Clemens will all be seniors next year.
