Matt Wendling needed 20 points to reach the milestone and with 2:31 to play in the first half, he hit two free throws to pass Don Todd as the Athens High School all time leader in points scored.
Todd held the record with 1450 points and handed on the game ball off to Wendling during a special ceremony when Wendling scored his 20th point.
Wendling finished with 25 on the night and Athens beat North Mac 58-42.
Devin Richardson added ten points for the Warriors in the Sangamo win. Logan York scored 18 for North Mac, while Zayne Langellier added ten.
