There was no time left on the clock in regulation, Jacksonville trailed Southeast by three and all eyes at Scheffler gymnasium were fixed on Crimsons sophomore Will Peak. A foul had been called against the Spartans as Peak attempted a three pointer as the final buzzer sounded, and the only thing necessary to keep the game from concluding was for Peak to step up to an empty lane and make three free throws.

And he did. Peak made two free throws, and then waited through a Southeast timeout before making the third to send Friday's game against Southeast to overtime. Once in the extra period, the Crimsons overcame a five point deficit in the final minute thanks to a Peak three pointer and a Riley Dugan steal and layup. Joe Brannan made a pair of free throws to give Jacksonville their final margin of victory in the 72-70 win. The Crimsons were shooting 47% at the charity stripe entering Friday's contest.

Brandon McCombs scored a team high 18 points and Riley Dugan added 17 for Jacksonville. Southeast's D'Angelo Hughes' 28 points were a game high. Spartans' Freshman Anthony Fairlee added 12 points and nine rebounds before fouling out. Southeast junior Trevyon Williams did not play because of a coaches decision.
