Rich McMahan, who's been the football coach at Petersburg PORTA high school since the 2001 season, has resigned. The PORTA school board is expected to act on that resignation, formalizing it on Tuesday.
According to the IHSA website, McMahan compiled a 71-76 record as the Bluejays head coach. PORTA finished 0-9 in the 2015 season and most recently made the playoffs in 2013 when they finished with a 6-4 record.
McMahan said he'll look to see if any other opportunities become available.
