The Springfield High Senators pulled out a 2-1 win over the Glenwood Titans on a Nate Cheung goal with 29.4 seconds to take control of the Central State Eight with just two conference games remaining for both squads.
The two teams both entered the Tuesday night matchup at Lee Field with undefeated marks in the CS8 and they knew how big this one was.
The Senators would strike first on a goal from Logan Willard, assisted by Kelby Phillips in the 16th minute and would hold that lead into the half.
Glenwood would even things up off a free kick from Reed Myerscough that Nick Metzger played a perfect one touch into the back of the net with 26:13 to play in the contest.
Junior forward Nate Cheung came through in the clutch with goal in the 80th minute to give the Springfield Senators a 2-1 win over Glenwood and keep them undefeated in the Central State Eight with trips to Lanphier and Eisenhower left on their schedule.
Glenwood can still get a share of the title if Springfield were to lose one or both of those, but the Titans still have Jacksonville and Eisenhower on their schedule next week.
