Prime Time Performer: Sept. 7 – 12

Here are this week's candidates for the Antonio's Pizza Prime Time Performer. You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5pm. The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Antonio's Pizza!

Abbey Galusha (Williamsville Outside Hitter) – We’ve had our eye on Galusha all season long because there’s no doubt she’s the leader of the now 8-1 Bullets. On Thursday she tallied 11 kills on the road against Riverton. While Williamsville fell for the first time in the Mahomet-Seymour Tourney to St. Joe Ogden in three sets, Galusha still led the Bullets to a consolation title while she was named to the all tournament team.

Asa Donaldson (North Mac Running Back) – We could nominate the whole team after what the Panthers accomplished on Friday night. Brennan White could be a worthy candidate, but it’s time to show running back Asa Donaldson some love. Donaldson ran for 138 yards on 15 carries, a 9.2 yards per carry average with a long of 50. He scored two rushing touchdowns and always seemed to pick up the big play when North Mac needed it against Williamsville. Donaldson is averaging 7.6 yards per carry this season as he currently leads the Panthers in rushing yards with 206.

Dan Zeigler (Rochester Quarterback) – The Rochester Rockets have put up 187 points in just three games and having an all state caliber quarterback certainly hasn’t hurt them. Zeigler continued to put up unbelievable numbers on Friday against Lanphier, including 2 passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown while throwing for 332 yards completing 14-23 passes.

Drew Chance (Auburn Quarterback) – A deserving candidate in weeks one and two, Drew Chance finally got his team the much needed win on Friday night. The senior quarterback got his team their first win of the season…on the road against a very talented Athens team. Chance threw for a touchdown and ran for another, all in the first half including a beautiful ball to his favorite target Drew Points.

Eddie Gailes (Southeast Running Back) – He called us out in his post game interview on Friday for putting the Spartans at #7 in our Power Rankings when they laid an egg against Jacksonville. Gailes chose to respond like a senior leader should in week three. The Spartan running back put the team on his back, rushing for 227 yards on 31 carries and two touchdowns in Southeast’s first win over Glenwood in 14 years.

Sam Bonansinga (Sacred Heart-Griffin WR/DB) – The Cyclones put up 693 yards of offense in their first game on the road this season. Senior wide out Sam Bonansinga helped them get that started. The SIU commit caught three touchdown passes in the first half in SHG’s blowout of Jacksonville. His final stats from Friday included 6 catches for 160 yards…and he added an interception on defense just for good measure.

Cam Cummings (New Berlin Quarterback) – When a quarterback throws for five touchdowns in one game, he’ll likely get a nod for Prime Time Performer. The man under center for the Pretzels went 20-33 for 287 yards and 5 TD’s in New Berlin’s win over Pittsfield. We may have wrote the Pretzels off after a week one loss, but that was to North Mac, who sits alone atop the Sangamo after week three, so maybe the Pretzels are a player this year and Cummings is going to lead them all the way.

Dane Moats (Pawnee Quarterback) – A Pawnee quarterback throwing the ball? Is this the Indian offense we all know? Well, if you have the ability then why not. The man under center for Coach Thein completed nine passes for 179 total yards on Friday night against Nokomis and had three passing touchdowns. A more than capable arm is not a bad option to add to their big backfield.

Marcus Hinkle and Ryan Roscetti (Riverton QB & Receiver) – Weeks one and two weren’t kind to the Riverton Hawks based on a tough Sangamo schedule. They put up a fight last week against Athens, but couldn’t notch their first win until week three when they poured it on Porta late. The QB to receiver combo of Marcus Hinkle to Ryan Roscetti was a big reason why they got their first “W”. Hinkle totaled 224 passing yards and 5 TD’s in the air, three of which were to Roscetti, who had 159 receiving yards.

Cameron Jones (Springfield High Wide Receiver) – How often does a freshman football player make the list of Prime Time Performers this early in the season? Last year at this time, the kid was playing JFL games on Saturdays. Speaking of Saturdays, Jones took the opportunity to be in the spotlight during the CS8’s Saturday game this week and he shined the brightest. Jackson Shearer completed four touchdown passes in the first half and three of them were caught by Jones. He showed his hops on the 1st and 3rd TD catches and his speed and ability to separate on the second one. Big things are coming the Senators’ way in the next four years with this guy on the field.
