Eyes across central Illinois crept towards their phones on Friday night, at increasing frequencies, as word spread of a mammoth upset in the making in Virden. North Mac's stunning 30-13 win over Williamsville simultaneously ended the Bullets' 43 game regular season winning streak and catapulted the Panthers into the conversation of the Sangamo's top teams.
North Mac got the job done by following an offensive line that has earned the affectionate nickname of the "Big Sexies." They cleared a path to the tune of 138 rushing yards from running back Asa Donaldson and another 79 from quarterback Brennan White. Donaldson and White combined for four touchdowns on the ground.
The Panthers defense handled their business as well, holding Williamsville running back Jace Franklin to under 100 rushing yards for the first time this season. The junior standout churned out 69 yards on Friday.
North Mac takes their unbeaten record to Auburn in Week 4. The Trojans picked up their first win of the season with a 27-13 win at Athens. Williamsville, meanwhile, hosts Pleasant Plains who lost to non-conference opponent Macomb 27-6 on Friday.
