The Jane Grebner Era is over at Williamsville. After 31 years and 764 wins, the Bullets softball team and their coach left the field one last time, having lost a 14-3 decision to St. Joe-Ogden.
The Spartans hit the ball from the very beginning, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after 2 and a half innings. The Bullets fought back with three of their own in the bottom of the 3rd, but SJO was just too much. They put up seven runs in the 4th and two more in the 5th and clinched their spot at the state championships this weekend.
Grebner retires as the 3rd winning coach in the history of Illinois high school softball, finishing with an overall record of 764-214. This year's team finished with a record of 27-7.
