Metamora just ran into a postseason buzzsaw. The Titans have been here and they've done that, and it showed. Glenwood routs the Redbirds 5-1 and will head to Naperville for the 4th time in four years.
Glenwood came out agressive and scored 12 minutes into the game. Madison Volpert knocked home a deflection to make it a 1-0 Titans advantage.
The game would stay that way until the final seven minutes when the Titans scored in bunches. Maddie Klintworth buried a penalty kick, scored another moments later, and assisted Taylor Parriott in the final 1:30 to make it a 4-0 game and deflate Metamora's chances going into halftime.
The Redbirds would get a score with 15 minutes to play, but Kennedy Sheedy tallied moments later to wrap the game up and give the starters a chance to celebrate on the sidelines.
The Titans, who have captured 2nd place, 1st place, and 3rd place honors in the past three seasons will get another shot at the prize. They face Peoria Notre Dame in a semi-final on Friday morning at North Central College in Naperville.
