Lanphier Explodes In Second Half, Starts Title Defense At Pekin With A Win

Lanphier’s quest to defend the Pekin Holiday Tournament title got off on the wrong foot with transportation issues, a technical foul for a scorebook error and because of a young and hungry Limestone squad. The Lions, though, would regain control and tighten the screws in the third quarter to pull away and shoot down the Rockets upset bid with a 77-55 win. Yaakema Rose lead Lanphier’s balanced attack with 19 points, while junior teammate Cardell McGee added 18. Senior Corrington Jones came off the bench to give Lanphier 14 points and big man Will Boles added 12. Limestone was lead by sharp shooting senior Caleb Barber who had 26 points to lead all scores (22 in the first half).

Lanphier moves on to Round 2 of the Pekin Holiday Tournament where the Lions will next play Hershey Wednesday morning at 10:30 AM.
