Conn Throws No-Hitter in Game One as Loggers Notch Two Wins Sunday

LLCC vs Spoon River Game 1:
Porter Conn was brilliant on the mound on Sunday in game one against Spoon River, as Conn threw a no-hitter to lead the Loggers past the Snappers 3-0.The pitching was strong on both sides. Conn struck out 12, while Jake Nelms sat down six. Conn recorded the win.

The Loggers got things started in the first inning.  Grant Pohlman hit a solo homer. Nelms took the loss for Spoon River College. The bulldog allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Lincoln Land socked one home run on the day. Pohlman had a four bagger in the first inning.

Trent Koehler, Pohlman, Adam Passmore, Evan Kochel, Hunter Moser, and Ryan Maul each managed one hit to lead the Loggers. The Snappers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Joe Jefferson had the most chances in the field with seven.

LLCC vs Spoon River Game 2:
The Loggers defeated Spoon River 4-2 on Sunday in game two of double header. Brannan Kraft earned the victory on the hill for the Loggers. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.  Evan Herpsteith threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Drake Smith was on the hill for Spoon River. Smith allowed six hits and four runs over four and a third innings, striking out five.  Cole Smith threw two-thirds of an inning in relief. Ryan Maul, Trace Melody, Adam Passmore, Will Rohlk, Grant Pohlman, and Wandel Campana each collected one hit to lead Lincoln Land.

The Loggers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hunter Moser had the most chances in the field with five. Trever Goforth led the Snappers with two hits in two at bats.
