Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: April 24-29

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Rylann Law (Glenwood Soccer) Glenwood soccer picked up a big win early last week over Rochester to stay unbeaten in CS8 play. Then, over the weekend they won the Titian Invite going 2-0. Against Belleville Althoff on Saturday Law scored five goals in the 7-1 victory. You can check out the highlights of that game HERE.

Sarah Cross (Olympia Softball) A big week for the Spartans as they locked up at least a share of the Sangamo title with two conference victories in three days. On Tuesday against Maroa Forsyth, Cross went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Olympia looks to win the conference title outright on Tuesday at Athens. Highlights of the victory over Maroa HERE.

Deja Anderson (Springfield High Track and Field) Before the conference meet and postseason starts its time for City track and field. On Wednesday at Southeast, the Senators picked up a share of the City title with SHG. Anderson had a big night with three individual wins and one relay victory. Her individual events were the 100m (12.71), 200m (26.21) and long jump (5.05m) while she also anchored the winning 4×100 (50.44). Highlights of the meet HERE.

Trey Carter (Williamsville Baseball) The Bullets were looking to lock up at least a share of the Sangamo conference title on Thursday as they hosted Pleasant Plains. They picked up a 3-0 victory as Carter threw a no hitter in seven innings pitched allowing three walks and striking out fourteen. He also had an RBI in the win. Williamsville looks for the outright conference title Tuesday at New Berlin. See the highlights of the no-hitter HERE.

Vivian Rahmel (Sacred Heart Griffin Track and Field) It was a historic night at Southeast on Wednesday as the Cyclones picked up a share of the City title with Springfield. Entering the night Sacred Heart Griffin had never won or shared a girls City track and field title. Rahmel had two individual victories that night, the 1600m (5:37.16) and the 3200m (12:00.25). Sophia Smith (Pleasant Plains Soccer) The Pleasant Plains Cardinals picked up the Plains Invite title last week. In three games they outscored their opponents 22-0. In the championship game on Thursday, it was Smith who had two first half goals to help propel the Cardinals to the win. See the highlights of that game HERE.

Joe Catalano (Williamsville Baseball) The Bullets actually had two no hitters last week in Sangamo games. On Tuesday in Athens, Catalano started off the week for Williamsville throwing five no hit innings allowing one walk and striking out nine. He also drove in two and scored two runs in the win.

Emma Scheffler (Springfield High Softball) The Senators had a busy week as they went 5-0 including two CS8 victories. In a doubleheader against Urbana on Saturday it was Scheffler who led Springfield at the plate. In the two games she went 6 for 9 driving in seven and scoring five run.

Chance Payne (Mt Pulaski Baseball) How does a no hitter with 17 strikeouts sounds for your first high school start? That’s what Payne did on Friday against Bloomington Cornerstone. The sophomore threw a six inning no hitter while walking two and picking up 17 Ks. He also had an RBI and scored a run in the win.

Colleen Zeibert (Rochester Track and Field) Zeibert broke not just one but two of her own school records last week. Early in the week she set a new time in the 3200m, cutting 20 seconds off her previous time for a time of 10:50.6. Then later in the week it was time to break the 1600m record with a time of 4:57.83.

Brayden Twist (Southeast Baseball) The Spartans picked up a CS8 victory over Rochester on Thursday with a 12-7 victory. Twist helped Southeast to the victory at the plate and on the mound. He went 2-4 driving in three and scoring one run. He also threw 1.1 innings allowing one hit, no runs and striking out one.
