Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Zach Powell (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) Another double double for Powell this week as the Cardinals picked up a 79-65 win over Bloomington Central Catholic. In the victory Powell had 21 points and 10 rebounds. In a close game on Tuesday with New Berlin Powell scored 19 of the Cardinals 29 points in a one point loss. KeShon Singleton (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Basketball) The Cyclones are back to back City Champs! Sacred Heart Griffin went 3-0 at City last week with a 69-33 victory over Lanphier to secure the outright title on Saturday night. In that win Singleton finished with 16 points, going 7-10 from the floor and 2-4 from three point range. Check out the highlights of the victory HERE.

Emma Scheffler (Springfield High Girls Basketball) It was a record tying night for Scheffler on Saturday night as the Senators finished second at City. In their final games of the tournament Scheffler went 7 for 12 from three point range to tie the boys record for most threes in a game. She finished with 26 points in that game. Maggie Fleischli (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Basketball) For the fourth straight year the Cyclones are City Champs! With a record of 3-0 at the City Tournament SHG clinched the title on Saturday. Fleischli made plays all weekend but a double double against Southeast was the highlight. In Friday’s 45-37 victory she had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Check out the highlights HERE.

Karlie Hoke (PORTA Girls Basketball) Another week of wins for the Lady Jays as they move to 23-0 this season. In a conference victory over Olympia on Thursday Hoke scored 18 points. On Saturday at the Sangamo vs IPC Shootout she led PORTA with 24 points in a win over Bloomington Central Catholic. See highlights of the win over Olympia HERE.

Mason Funk (UHigh Boys Basketball) The Pioneers picked up a big win on Saturday with a 76-69 victory over 2A #1 Princeton. UHigh is heating up at the right time as postseason is just a couple weeks away. In the win it was Funk who led the team with 30 points. You can see the highlights of that win HERE.

Noah Romack (Sacred Heart Griffin Hockey) At the Nelson Center on Monday we caught some hockey action between SHG and Glenwood. In that game the Cyclones took the 7-2 victory behind Romack’s hat trick. He also had an assist in that game then added another goal and two assists in a win over Glenwood on Wednesday. Dresden Grimm (Auburn Wrestling) The Trojans won the Rich Lovellette Invitational over the weekend where Grimm picked up a second place finish in the 138 pound weight class. But on Thursday night he hit a milestone victory with his 150th win. Postseason starts this weekend, keep on eye on Grimm and the Trojans as they look for state titles.

Logan Allen (Springfield High Boys Swimming) The Senators are City Champs! At Eisenhower Pool on Tuesday night Springfield High won the City meet. Allen picked up four wins that night. His two individual wins came in the 50 freestyle (23.85) and the 100 backstroke (59.26). While he was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:51.49) and the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:40.63). Highlights of the City Swim meet can be seen HERE.

Seth Doss (Southeast Boys Basketball) Doss hit a special milestone at City on Friday night with his 1,000th point in a game against SHG. He followed up that special night with a double double in a win over Springfield High on Saturday with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Highlight of that double double HERE.

Gavin Arthalony (PORTA Boys Basketball) Another thousand point scorer that hit the milestone this week was Arthalony. Against Athens on Tuesday in a 53-40 victory he scored his 1,00th point. The Bluejays are 3-0 in conference play with more games coming up this week.
