Loggers Drop Close Road Game at Southeastern

LLCC – 70

Southeastern Illinois – 75The Loggers dropped their fourth contest in a row at the hands of the Falcons of Southeastern Illinois Community College. Unfortunately, for the Loggers a long trip to Harrisburg proved unfriendly. The Loggers have been starting games on hot streaks, but tonight was a different start as the Loggers found themselves down early before they found a rhythm. Although Lincoln Land built up a 6-point advantage in the first frame, but the Falcons were able to keep control as they took a 32-30 advantage to the half break.

Neither team established much of a lead early in the second half, but Southeastern took the lead with over 15:00 to go and never gave it back. The Falcons’ lead never discouraged the Loggers, as they were able to cut the lead on multiple occasions to one possession. However, Southeastern was able to respond, pushing the lead back out between four and six points.Lincoln Land seemed to be letting the game slip away until a quick run got them back on track within a bucket at 70-68. The Falcons knocked in free throws to shut out the Loggers final chance to tie or take the lead. Southeastern made five free throws over the final minute of the contest, Lincoln Land was unable to recover. Eventually the final advantage landed on 75-70 Southeastern.

Cameron Kincaid led the Logger effort in three categories for the second game in a row, scoring 20 points, pulling in 9 boards, and dishing out 6 assists, all team highs. Michael Ousley, the Logger’s other leading scorer chipped in 14 points, and freshmen Kyle Leonard and Stephan Douglas both ended in double digits with 10.

Lincoln Land stumbles to 5-10 on the season. They hope to recover Saturday at home against conference and region opponent Illinois Central College.
