Becca Heitzig (Lincoln Cross Country) Our first country coverage of the season saw Heitzig win the girls race at the Rocket Invite on Saturday morning. She finished with a time of 17:17.5 which was just over 40 seconds quicker than the next finisher. See the highlights of the invite HERE and hear from Becca HERE.

Kevin Howell (New Berlin Football) The Pretzels picked up a win over PORTA in week two to move their record to 1-1. Howell got it done in the backfield for New Berlin as he rushed for 204 yards on 12 attempts and picked up four touchdowns in the victory.

Isabel Tom (Rochester Girls Golf) The Rockets traveled to Piper Glen on Wednesday to take on SHG and Glenwood. Tom picked up medalist honors at the triangular finishing with a 41. See some of the highlights of the meet HERE.

Parker Boatman (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Soccer) The Cyclones are 4 Corners Tournament Champs after a dominating performance against Warrenburg Latham in the championship. Boatman propelled SHG to the win with a hat trick on the turf in Williamsville. Check out the those goals and more HERE.

Galashky Blaise (Glenwood Football) Glenwood traveled to Decatur on Friday night to face MacArthur and brought home a big win after scoring 40 unanswered points in the second half. Blaise was a big part of that with five touchdowns in the victory and 139 rushing yards. Check out the highlights of that game HERE.

Brenden Heitzig (Lincoln Cross Country) Becca wasn’t the only Heitzig to won a race at the Rocket Invite. Brenden took first in the boys race with a time of 14:59.4. That time was nearly 36 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The Lincoln boys also won the team title. See the highlights HERE and we caught up with Brenden after the race HERE.

Kaleigh Bergschneider (Lutheran High Volleyball) The Crusaders continue to cruise with a 9-0 start to the season. In two victories last week Bergschneider had a total 23 kills. She also made the IHSA top 10 for most aces in a match with 13. See Lutheran’s win over Pawnee HERE.

Zachary Keedy (Olympia Football) The Spartans have opened the season with a 2-0 record in their first year as a part of the Sangamo. Keedy had a big game against Pittsfield with 237 rushing yards on 13 attempts and four touchdowns. Olympia travels to Athens for a week three matchup on Friday.

Emma Dixon (Rochester Volleyball) Rochester is out to a good start this season and picked up wins over Williamsville and Taylorville last week. In the victory over Williamsville Dixon had ten assists, six digs and two blocks. Highlights of the win over Williasmville HERE and over Taylorville HERE.

Jake Baldin (Springfield High Boys Golf) The Senators took the team win against Glenwood and SHG this week while Baldin finished as co-medalist at the meet. He finished with a 1-under-par 35 as the team picked up the win with a 146. See the highlights HERE.

Kaiden Maurer (Maroa Forsyth Football) Maurer made this list for multiple sports last year but he’s back on it for his performance on the football field this week. In a Sangamo win over Auburn at Walter Boyd Field on Friday he went 21-23 with 222 passing yards and two touchdowns while also picking up a rushing touchdown. See how the Trojans got the win HERE.

Carter Matteson (Lutheran High Boys Soccer) Lutheran competed in the Route 66 Kickoff Classic last week with a win over Hillsboro in the third place game. In that game the freshman had the only two goals. Later in the week he had two goals and an assist against Calvary Christian.
