Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: February 7-12

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Kenna Bixby (South County Girls Basketball) The Vipers are MSM Conference champs with an undefeated conference record. With the conference title and traveling trophy on the line they picked up a win at Nokomis on Monday. Bixby led South County with 17 points and went 11 for 11 on free throws in the 50-42 victory. She also broke a record for most consecutive free throws last week with 22 made in a row over 3 games. Check out highlights of the win HERE.

Megan Derrick (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) Another conference title was awarded on Monday as the Cardinals picked up a win over Riverton. With the 33-21 win over the Hawks, Pleasant Plains secured an undefeated conference record and the Sangamo title. Derrick led the Cardinals in the win with 12 points. Highlights can be found HERE.

Connor Breazeale (Athens Boys Basketball) The Warriors shook up the Sangamo title race with a win over Maroa Forsyth on Tuesday and another against Pleasant Plains on Friday. Breazeale had 22 points in the 57-45 victory over the Trojans and added another 13 points against the Cardinals. Highlights of the win over Maroa HERE and the victory over Plains HERE.

Kaleah Toran (Springfield High Girls Basketball) The Senators are CS8 champs as they picked up a share of the title with a win over Glenwood on Thursday and a Rochester win over U-High on Friday. In the victory over Glenwood the senior, Toran, did what she’s done all year and led Springfield High with 19 points. You can see highlights of the win HERE.

Evan Houser (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) A busy week for the Cardinals with three conference games in four days. They picked up a win in overtime at Auburn on Tuesday as Houser led the team with 19 points including three 3s and went 8 for 10 at the line (highlights HERE). On Wednesday he had 18 points in a victory over Maroa Forsyth (HERE).

Logan Tomlinson (Glenwood Boys Basketball) The Titans traveled to Springfield Hight on Friday to finish up their conference schedule for this season. Glenwood came away with the 48-44 win. The junior was stepped up big for the Titans a few times and had 13 points in the victory. Check out the highlights HERE.

Garrett Yard (Riverton Boys Basketball) At the Riverton Subway Shootout on Saturday the Sangamo and CS8 teams all went home with wins. The Hawks picked up a 59-35 victory over Wethersfield and Yard led the Hawks with 21 points, five rebound and four steals. Highlight of the Riverton victory HERE.

Maya Davis (Glenwood Wrestling) Davis is a sectional champion! At the Peoria Richwoods sectional on Saturday she picked up a pin on her first opponent just 44 seconds in then went on to win the sectional title at 115 pounds. She’ll wrestle at the first ever girls state meet February 25 and 26 at Grossinger Motors Arena.

Connor Jenssen (Lanphier Wrestling) In his full first year of wrestling is heading to state after a second place finish at the Mahomet sectional. At 160 pounds he picked up a fall against his first opponent then won the semifinal with a 9-4 decision. Highlights of the 2A Mahomet sectional HERE.

Brooklyn Murphy (Jacksonville Wrestling) Another local wrestler heading to state is Jacksonville’s Murphy at 110 pounds. She picked up a win in the semifinal and finished second at the Peoria Richwoods sectional.

Dresden Grimm (Auburn Wrestling) Grimm is a sectional champions at 132 pounds and is heading to state next weekend! He pinned his first two opponents and picked up the sectional title with a 3-0 decision in the final. Highlights of the Trojans at the 1A Vandalia HERE.

Alexis Seymour (Jacksonville Wrestling) The Crimsons have two girls advancing to state. Seymour finished third at 115 pounds at the Peoria Richwoods sectional to punch her ticket.
