Trey Elliot (Jacksonville Wrestling) The Crimsons picked up some conference wins in Rochester on Wednesday but Elliot hit a career milestone with his 100th win against MacArthur. That was just the start of an exciting week for him as he also pinned every opponent he faced at the Quincy Tournament with no match leaving the first period.

Christina Rice (MacArthur Girls Basketball) Not only did she have a half court buzzer beater to end that first half against Glenwood on Friday night, Rice also had two double digit performances last week. She scored 20 points in the win over Glenwood and 18 points in the Generals victory over Lanphier.

Mason Marshall (Glenwood Boys Basketball) The Titans are now tied with MacArthur after a come back victory over the Generals on Friday night. Marshall tied the ball game up at 42 with 2.6 seconds left while also picking up the and one. He sank the free throw as Glenwood took their first lead of the game for the 43-42 victory.

Kloe Froebe (Lincoln Girls Basketball) Another win for the Lady Railers and another impressive performance for Froebe on Friday night against state-ranked Mattoon. Froebe finished with a triple double: 35 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals. She also had 8 assists and went 8 for 8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Fifteen of her 35 points came in the first quarter.

Cooper Schallenberg (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) The Cardinals are the Sangamon County boys basketball champs for the third year in a row. The freshman had 14 points in the championship game against New Berlin including four 3-pointers. Three of those 3s came in the third period to help propel Plains to the running clock win.

Tori Scales (Riverton Girls Basketball) The Lady Hawks picked up a conference win over Maroa Forsyth last Monday with a 55-38 final. Scales led Riverton with 14 points and two 3s in the victory.

Gavin Arthalony (PORTA Boys Basketball) Another big tournament happening last week was the Winchester Invitational Tournament. The Bluejays took home the title with a 44-42 victory over Liberty. Arthalony led PORTA with 21 points in the championship game.

Emma Boggs (Tri-City/Sangamon Valley Girls Basketball) The Tornadoes picked up a non-conference victory over Illini Central on Thursday. She had two other 3-pointers in fourth quarter with her third being the one that gave TCSV the 39-38 win.

Darrias Christmon (Rochester Boys Basketball) The Rockets continue to roll with a 41-35 win over Jacksonville last Tuesday. Rochester trailed by 6 at halftime but came back for the win. Christmon finished with a team high 12 points with two 3-pointers.

Cherese Mitchel (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Basketball) The Lady Cyclones are currently tied for second in the CS8 and they added two wins last week. In a victory over U-High on Tuesday Mitchel led the team with 18 points. She had 10 points and two 3-pointers in the first half.

Lleyton Turk (Glenwood Boys Swimming) Glenwood won a quad meet against Jacksonville, Southeast and SHG last Tuesday. The junior won the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.77 and the 100 backstroke (58.94). He also anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:57.17).

Zoe Hiltabrand (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) Pleasant Plains girls sits atop the Sangamo standings and got a win over a tough Athens team last Monday. Hiltabrand had all eight of her points in the fourth quarter which included going 6 of 10 from the free throw line as the Cardinals won 37-33.
