Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: Holiday Tournament Edition

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

You can vote once every 12 hours until the polls close on Friday at 5 p.m.

Brylan Phillips (MacArthur Boys Basketball) The Generals have a big matchup this Friday but last week they showed how dominate they can be at the Prairie Farms Holiday Classic in Collinsville. In the championship game they trailed by one at the end of the third then opened the fourth on a 10-0 run for a 64-44 victory. Phillips was named tournament MVP and averaged 16.8 points per game during the tournament.

Kloe Froebe (Lincoln Girls Basketball) The Lady Railers picked up a championship at the Peoria Manual Christmas Tournament last week. They beat Dunlap 52-23 in the title game. Froebe outscored Dunlap by herself with 33 points in the championship game and was named to the all tournament team.

Seth Doss (Southeast Boys Basketball) The Spartans had a busy day on Thursday playing three days in one day to win the Route 13 Christmas Classic. They beat Marion (AR) for the championship with a final of 57-51. Doss was named Tournament MVP.

Zoe Danner (PORTA Girls Basketball) The Lady Jays finished second at the Lady Hawk Christmas Classic in Riverton last Thursday. Danner was one of PORTA’s two all tournament team selections. She had multiple double digit point games for the Lady Jays during the tournament.

Gage Lopez (Auburn Wrestling) Holiday tournament wrestling comes in the form of the Abe’s Rumble. Lopez hit a milestone during the duel tournament by winning his 100th career match. The Trojans finished 15th out of 58 in the tournament.

Tye Banks (Lanphier Boys Basketball) The Lions traveled to the Pekin Tournament last week and Banks hit a career milestone while there.  In Lanphier’s opening game of the tournament Banks surpassed one thousand career points. He finished with 23 in that game and finished the tournament with 93 points in four games.

Maddie Roberts (Williamsville Girls Basketball) Roberts has had an exciting couple weeks. After scoring her 1000th point before Christmas she was named to the all tournament team at the Carlinville Holiday Tournament. The Bullets won the championship in Carlinville with a 55-48 victory over Greenfield-NW.

Spencer Rikas (Auburn Boys Basketball) Auburn placed third at the Waverly Holiday Tournament last week and Rikas ended the tournament with 63 points and had 20+ in two of the four games. He was also named first team all tournament.

Mazie Fleming (Taylorville Girls Basketball) The Lady Tornadoes won the Jerseyville Holiday Tournament last week with a 59-25 victory over Carrollton. They finished 4-0 in the tournament as Fleming was named to the all tournament team.

Aden Byal (Glenwood Wrestling) The Titans traveled north to DeKalb for the Flavin Duals over the holidays. Byal outscored the field with 87 points against his six opponents before pinning most of them for a 6-0 record over two days.

Egan Franzen (Maroa Forsyth Boys Basketball) Maroa Forsyth competed at the St Teresa Christmas Tournament over the holidays and finished third with a 70-62 victory over Mt Pulaski. Franzen scored 31 in the third place game for the Trojans and finished the tournament with 109 points in 4 games. He was named to the all tournament team.

Makenna Yeager (Glenwood Girls Basketball) A leader for the Titans this week at the Peoria Manual Tournament Yeager was named to the all tournament team. She had 30 points including five three pointers in a victory over CS8 opponent MacArthur.

Jake Hamilton (SHG Boys Basketball) The Cyclones picked up a victory over El Paso Gridley for the State Farm Classic small school boys championship at the Shirk Center last Thursday. El Paso kept it close early but SHG pulled away for the 67-45 victory. Hamilton was named to the all tournament team.

Kaleah Toran (Springfield High Girls Basketball) The Springfield High girls traveled up to Bloomington last week to participate in the State Farm Classic in the large school girls division. They finished 6th in the tournament and as she has done a lot throughout the season Toran was a big contributor for the Senators. She was named to the all tournament team.
